Rider hosted TCNJ at Mercer County Park looking to get back to back sweeps. The first game was on Friday night under the lights and the Broncs sent out Kyle Hageman to the mound. He pitched well allowing only 3 earned runs but shaking defense behind him lead to 6 runs overall. The Broncs bats were pretty silent until the 7th inning when they rallied for 6 runs to tie it up at 6. The Broncs had all the momentum at that point and won on a walk of single by Ryan Korp in the 8th. Pete McClelland came out of the pen in the 8th to get the win. Brian Duckworth and Will Cannata had three hits a piece and Mike Origoni delievered the big hit in 7th with a two out two rbi single to tie it at 6.

In the double header on Saturday, scoring runs came alittle easier for the Broncs. The Broncs won in ten run fashion 13-3 both games. Vinny Emanuelo and Charlie Filiappazzo getting wins for the Broncs. The bats were hot on Saturday but Will Cannata lead the charge going 7-9 on the weekend.

The Broncs have a huge weekend upcoming on the Rider varsity field as the host UPenn needing to take 2 out 3 to make the playoffs. Come out on Saturday at 11 and Sunday at 12 to support the Broncs!!

Playoff Weekend

Going into the playoffs Rider had high hopes. Shawn Jones took the hill as Rider took on the defending national champions Northeastern. Rider held their own throughout the game but couldnt get that one big hit to push them over the top. The late 7th inning push couldnt push the Broncs on top as they went down 5-3. Game two sent the Broncs to face Fordam. Vinny Emanuelo took the hill and threw the ball well. The Broncs were getting no hit till the 6th inning when Matt Hvisdock broke it up. Down 2-0 in the 7th, Rider had one last push. A double by Jim Bradley, sac fly by Dan Petrino, and single by Matt Hvisdock plated 3 runs for the Broncs. But a late rally in the by Fordam gave them the win 4-3 in the 7th. It was a great season for the Broncs and they went places that no other person thought they could have made it to. I want to send out a huge thanks to the seniors and good luck in their careers. Matt Hvisdock, Mike DeGasperi, Dan Petrino, JIm Bradley, Joe Dal Bo, Ed Collins, and Mike Alleman, thanks for a great year. Thanks to our dedicated fans for following us every where we have gone and we couldnt have done it with out year. Have a good summer and follow your Broncs starting next fall!

As incoming freshman, we are always looking for players so feel free to come out for the team. Please contact new president Kevin Bordner at bordnerk@rider.edu

Going in to the final week, Rider's hopes were high. The team was looking to win 3 games out of their 5 to clinch a playoff spot. In the first series Rider faced TCNJ. In game one Vinny Emanuelo got the win with a big offensive game from Pete McClelland, who also stole home. In game two Rider came back to tie up the game in the top of the 7th innning at 6. Then they lost the game on questionable past ball call at home plate. In the rubber match of the series Ryan Korp erupted for a huge game having a lead off homer and a triple. Joe Dalbo also added 2 hits and 3 rbis. Rider came on top 7-6 with a win from Charlie Filippazzo. On Sunday Rider moved in to play Monteclair St. needing one win to go to the playoffs. In game one Dan Krayton got his first start of the year. He pitched pretty well but a late push by Rider wasnt enough and they went down 9 to 8. In game two Rider erupted from the plate scoring 21 runs. A lot of walks and hits from Riders full lineup scored many runs. Kevin Bordner had 4 hits along with 6 rbis. Jim Bradley, Ryan Korp, Matt Hvisdock, and Steve Walters all had big games as Peter McClelland got the win as Rider wins 21-11. Now Rider looks to bring on the defending National Champions Northeastern on Friday at 4:30 in Oneonta, NY. This is Rider Club Baseball's first trip to the playoffs since they started to program. Congrats to all who played this season and good luck in the playoffs!

Rider University went to Hofstra with high hopes. Coming off a couple wins vs. NYU, the broncs looked to get some wins vs. the division leading pride. In Game 1 Rider got the loss 8-3. The broncs came back in game two to get a win 4-1. The game 3 it came down to the wire but the pride snuck out the win 4-3. New addition Shawn Jones got the win for the broncs in game two. That gives him his second win of the season and also leads the team in ERA, Ryan Korp had two triples this weekend. Steve Walters continued with a hot bat while having 4 hits. Matt Hvisdock was also big in his two games adding 3 hits. Kevin Bordner added his first homerun of the season as well. A big thanks goes out to Ed Collins for making the trip up there to join us on Sunday. Joe Dalbo, Jim Bradley, and Dan Petrino all stepped up defensively this past weekend. Now the broncs go on to play Montclair St. on Rider's varsity field. Please come out and support the Broncs for their first home games of the season!
